Toronto police say that one person is dead and a number of others are injured following an explosion at a Toronto chemical plant on Wednesday morning.
Medical crews were dispatched to a plant near Beth Nealson Drive and Wicksteed Avenue just north of Thorncliffe Park at 9:50 am, according to CP24.
Police were called after reports of a large explosion.
One person has already been pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics, with others being transported to hospital.
Police say several people called in reporting a loud noise, followed by dark smoke rising from the building.
The plant, which is believed to produce silicone products, bellowed until the fire was suppressed by firefighters using foam.
An investigation is underway.
