Not long before Darrell Brooks plowed into a holiday parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin on Saturday, killing five, a neighbor reported seeing his ex-girlfriend "running away with no shoes and a black eye" not long before the fatal incident.

On Saturday, 39-year-old Brooks allegedly drove his SUV into the city's annual holiday parade, killing five people, and injuring more than 40.

Speaking with The Sun, a neighbor, who was identified only as Ebony, said that Brooks and his partner had clashed earlier that day.

The neighbor said that the two frequently clashed outside her home, across the street from Brooks' house, and she would intervene and threaten to call the police.

Other neighbors noted that Brooks always "seemed off" and was seen "talking to himself."

They said they claimed that the red SUV which plowed into the parade was the same one that was parked behind Brook's Milwaukee home he shared with his mother.

On Monday, Brooks was charged in connection to the incident. He had been previously released from jail after posting a $1,000 bail for three misdemeanors and two felonies.

He has a history of resisting arrest, obstruction, battery, statutory sexual seduction, strangulation and suffocation, property destruction, illegal firearm possession, bail jumping, domestic violence, drug related charges and is a registered sex offender.

Virginia Sorenson, 79 Leanna Owens, 71 Tamara Durand, 52 James Coolidge, 52 Wilhelm Hospel, 82, were killed on Saturday.
