On Wednesday morning, a California man was arrested after allegedly attempting to rape a 12-year-old girl, and was later found riding his bike near a school while naked.

Carlos Martinez, 41, reportedly shoved a 12-year-old girl to the ground as she was walking to school at around 7 am, according to the Corona Police Department.

Martinez, who was dressed in women's clothing, then removed his clothing, exposing himself to the girl while making sexual references.

The student was able to escape quickly by running to a nearby school bus.

Not long after that incident, police said that a concerned citizen alerted an officer to a naked man riding a bicycle in the area.

Police then arrested Martinez near a school, and learned about the earlier assault after further investigation.

Martinez was arrested for attempted rape of a minor and assault with a deadly weapon., and is being held at Robert Presley Detention Center on $50,000 bail.

The Corona Police Department said that the incident demonstrated the importance of their "See something, Say something" campaign.

"The Corona Police Department wants to thank the concerned citizen for reporting the suspect," they wrote.
